Sergeant at Arms (800-322-5616 in VT only) or 802-828-2228

at home: http://www.leg.state.vt.us/legdir/districts.cfm?Body=H

Thank you for calling your VT state representative!!

ASK your friends and neighbors to CALL their representative. HR 520 must pass!

More info on the bill...

H 520 was passed by the Senate but faces its real challenge in the House on Weds or Thurs. The bill originated in the House, but the Senate has greatly strengthened the bill. And so, passed by the Senate, the bill returns to the House and needs a vote of approval on the good changes made by the Senate. Once the House signs off, the bill will be sent to the governor.

We expect most House members to vote for the bill, but a handful are key
to this vote: because we think their support is key to winning a 2/3rds majority. If that happens, the governor is all-but-guaranteed to sign the bill into law and Vermont will become a national leader in the fight to stop global warming, build renewable energy, and shut down Vermont Yankee Nuclear Reactor.

Thank you for calling your VT state representative!!

CLIMATE CHANGE, DESPAIR & EMPOWERMENT with John Seed
Community Solutions to Global Warming

Wednesday, May 9
7 pm
2nd Congregational Church, Greenfield, MA

"Climate change is the most serious issue facing humankind."

These multi-media presentations empower us with a renewed sense of commitment to the actions required to address global warming.

The roadshow aims to:

*
Catalyse, invigorate and support grassroots climate study/action groups across N America
*
Address the hopeless despair that many people feel and provide tools to
transform despair into empowerment and effective action.
*
Unveil the false, "business as usual", solutions being touted by most political parties
*
Raise awareness and inspire political action towards the real solutions that we, the people, must insist upon.
*
Provide resources for the many things that we can all do to rectify the situation.

The evening forums will include:

*
Video presentation with footage of both Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and climate expert, Ross Gelbspan and Al Gore speaking about the importance of grass roots action.
*
Information to expose false solutions and identify real solutions to global warming.
*
Discussion of the role of the denial of feelings of anguish and despair
in making us feel helpless, hopeless, paralyzed, what can one person do
anyway, its too late etc etc.
*
If a climate study/action group already exists, we will learn of their activities. Where no such group currently exists, people will be invited and encouraged to form one on the spot.
*
Discussion of the importance of direct democracy & grassroots action and how each of us now needs to awaken those around us to the urgency of addressing the climate crisis.
